Bringing this out once again for Newton's Birthday:

Round the Sun: A Newton's Birthday Carol
Words: Gary McGath, Copyright 2007
Music: "Deck the Halls," traditional

Round the Sun the Earth goes spinning,
Following the law, it's Newton's law,
Ever since our world's beginning,
Following the law, it's Newton's law.
Watch the stars in splendid parallax,
Following, following Newton's law.
There's no science that this carol lacks,
Following the law, it's Newton's law.

Though the winter cold grows stronger,
Following the law, it's Newton's law,
Starting now, the days grow longer.
Following the law, it's Newton's law.
For, as Isaac's clearly proven,
Following, following Newton's law,
Moving objects keep on movin',
Following the law, it's Newton's law.

This stanza makes a noble--and potentially humorous--attempt to find a rhyme for
"parallax", but, to my ears the effort seems strained.

Here are some suggested alternatives:

Earth pursues his formulation,
Following, following Newton's law,
Inverse square in its notation,
Following the law, it's Newton's law.

Stars traverse their spatial sectors,
Following, following Newton's law.
Guided by a field of vectors.
Following the law, it's Newton's law.

Why did Einstein have to meddle,
Swallowing, swallowing, Newton's law,
Letting earth in spacetime settle,
Swallowing the law, once Newton's law?

I've usually posted it with a footnote to "There's no science that this
carol lacks," saying "Scansion is another matter."

You can sing it however you want, of course.
